Want to emigrate to USA when I graduate?

I am currently on an internship in New York as part of my university course. I have been here nearly a year now, but go back to Scotland in August, where I will have my final year to complete my degree. I have decided I want to emigrate to the USA when I graduate, after being here a year, I know it is right for me. I would be able to find a job here but after researching visa options etc I am really confused. I know I should gain advice from an immigration specialist, and I will do so, but I am looking for general advice on what my best options would be, and how long the process takes. It is frustrating that UK citizens cannot take part in the Green Card lottery, so I will have to look into other options. I appreciate any tips and advice on this issue. Thanks!
